The goal of this cruise was the acquisition of oceanographic data along the continental shelf, close to the active fault of Sant’Eufemia and on the top of the Capo Vaticano Ridge, whose origin has been associated with volcanic intrusions from the Pleistocene. During the cruise, water samples (using a 24-bottle Rosette with a CTD to analyze the characteristics of water column), and bottom sediments (using a grab) were collected. During the transfer phases from one area to another and between the sampling stations, very high resolution seismic data (Chirp Sub-bottom Profiles) and morpho-bathymetric data (Multibeam 8111) were acquired. The acquisition and sampling operations were carried out with the N / R OGS-Explora of the OGS of Trieste.
