The cruise MAGIC ISMAR 09/10 is aimed at the acquisition of multibeam ecometric data in the map sheets of the southern Adriatic sea that are under ISMAR competence: Lecce (map sheet 50), Otranto (map sheet 49) and Tricase (map sheet 48). During the oceanographic cruise, the acquisition of only the area of depth less than 120 m in map sheet 50, of the platform area and internal continental slope in map sheet 48 is planned.

The thematic maps that will be created will constitute a cognitive tool that the Civil Protection Department will have at its disposal for the management of territorial risks, but also a basis for research activities in marine areas that are geologically and largely still little known. MaGIC Project is funded by the Italian Civil Protection Department for the acquisition of high-resolution morphobatimetric data along Italian continental margins. Is expected the production of “Map of the elements of geohazards of the Itralian Seas”, consisting of 72 map sheets at scale 1:50.000, of which 19 pertaining to ISMAR-CNR UOS Bologna. For each sheet there are four thematic maps. They highlight different aspects of the geohazard and the different scales at which it can be investigated and represented.

La campagna MAGIC ISMAR 09/10 è finalizzata all'acquisizione di dati ecometrici nei 3 fogli dell’ Adriatico Meridionale di competenza ISMAR: Foglio Lecce (Foglio 50), Foglio Otranto (Foglio 49) e Foglio Tricase (Foglio 48). Durante la campagna MAGIC ISMAR 09/10 è prevista l’acquisizione della sola area di profondità inferiori a 120 m nel foglio 50, della zona di piattaforma e scarpata continentale interna nel foglio 48. Le carte tematiche che verranno realizzate costituiranno uno strumento conoscitivo di cui il Dipartimento della Protezione Civile potrà disporre per la gestione dei rischi territoriali, ma anche una base per attività di ricerca in aree marine geologicamente complesse e in gran parte ancora poco conosciute. MaGIC è un progetto finanziato dal Dipartimento della Protezione Civile per l’acquisizione di dati morfobatimetrici ad alta risoluzione lungo settori di costa italiani. A tal fine è prevista la realizzazione della Carta degli Elementi di Pericolosità dei Fondali Marini Italiani, costituita da 72 Fogli a scala 1:50.000, di cui 19 di competenza ISMAR-CNR UOS Bologna. Per ciascun foglio sono previste quattro carte tematiche, esse servono a mettere in risalto aspetti diversi della pericolosità geologica e le differenti scale a cui essa può essere investigata e rappresentata.
