The LSD14 oceanographic cruise (LowStand Delta 2014) was planned to investigate the sedimentary successions deposited at the northern edge of the Meso-Adriatic Depression (MAD-Central Adriatic Sea) during the Upper Pleistocene and the Holocene and is part of the EXXON-ISMAR (2014-2017) project. Therefore, the aim is to try to understand the processes of formation and stratigraphic evolution of the lowstand wedge of the river Po, to analyze the facies simic, to have information on the timing of formation of the wedge and of the supply channels, and more generally, to advance new hypothesis on the mechanisms of lowstand deposit formation in semi-closed basins with fine sedimentation.

La campagna oceanografica LSD14 (LowStand Delta 2014) è stata progettata per investigare le successioni sedimentarie depositatesi al margine settentrionale della Depressione Meso-Adriatica (MAD - Mar Adriatico centrale) durante il Pleistocene Superiore e l'Olocene e fa parte del progetto di collaborazione EXXON-ISMAR (2014-2017). Lo scopo è quindi cercare di comprendere i processi di formazione e l’evoluzione stratigrafia del cuneo di lowstand del fiume Po, analizzare le facies simiche, avere informazioni sul timing di formazione del cuneo e dei canali di alimentazione, e più in generale, avanzare nuove ipotesi sui meccanismi di formazione di depositi di lowstand in bacini semi-chiusi e a sedimentazione fine.
