The survey has been carried out on board of the R/V Bannock - CNR. During the cruise, the main aim of which was the reconstruction of the geological and geodynamic evolution of the Tyrrhenian basin, a grid of single channel seismic profiles was collected using a 30 kJ - Sparker source (Teledyne Exploration, Houston - USA). From the original radio navigation system Loran-C, the coordinates have been later converted into geographical. The sparker profiles total 1015 nm and are organized in groups named after the investigated areas. The areas investigated during the survey T71, Leg II are: the eastern continental slope offshore Ponza and Capri (seismic profiles T71-SE); the northern Tyrrhenian slope (seismic profiles T71-SN ) and the abyssal plain (seismic profiles T71-PO) up to the 41° N; the southern part of the Montecristo Basin and the nearby Sardinia escarpment (seismic profiles T71-BS); and the northwestern part of the abyssal central-Tyrrhenian plain (seismic profiles T71-FC, seismic profiles T71-MC). The cruise has been carried out from 6th July to 3th August 1971. Prof. S. Rossi and Dr. E.F.K. Zarudzki were on board as part of the scientific team, and P. Ferretti and A. Ferriani were part of the technical team. PI was the Dr. A. Fabbri.

L'acquisizione in mare è stata effettuata con la nave Bannock del CNR. Durante questa crociera, il cui scopo principale era la ricostruzione dell'evoluzione geologica e geodinamica dell'area tirrenica, sono stati acquisiti diversi profili sismici monocanale con lo Sparker-30 kJ della Teledyne Exploration di Houston (USA). Il sistema di navigazione utilizzato è stato il Loran C, e le coordinate sono state successimene convertite in geografiche. Sono stati registrati in totale 1015 MN (miglia nautiche) di profili sismici organizzati per aree investigate. Le aree investigate all’interno del Mar Tirreno durante il rilievo T71 Leg II sono le seguenti: scarpata continentale orientale al largo dell'Isola di Ponza e di Capri (seismic profiles T71-SE); la scarpata settentrionale (seismic profiles T71-SN), la piana batiale (seismic profiles T71-PO) fino al 41° parallelo Nord; la parte meridionale del Bacino di Montecristo e la vicina scarpata (seismic profiles T71-BS); e infine la parte nordoccidentale della piana batiale centro-tirrenica (seismic profiles T71-FC, seismic profiles T71-MC). La crociera si è svolta dal 6 Luglio al 3 Agosto del 1971. A bordo erano presenti il Prof. S. Rossi e il De. E.F.K. Zarudzki parte del team scientifico; e P. Ferretti e A.
