The goal of cruise MAGIC ISMAR 09/09 is to acquire geophysical data in the map sheets of eastern Sardinia that are the responsibility of ISMAR: Tavolara (map sheet 55), Orosei (map sheet 56), Arbatax (map sheet 57) and Costarei (map sheet 58). During two surveys carried out by ISMAR CNR, part of the data of these sheets had already been acquired. They constitute the previous data made available to the MaGIC project. During the MAGIC ISMAR 09/09 campaign, the acquisition in shallow waters (depths below 120 m) of the northernmost sheets is planned, both because the platform is more extensive here, and because the highly variable weather and sea conditions in this season have suggested the need for a base port (Olbia), where to shelter in case of bad weather. MaGIC Project is funded by the Italian Civil Protection Department for the acquisition of high-resolution morphobatimetric data along Italian continental margins. Is expected the production of “Map of the elements of geohazards of the Itralian Seas”, consisting of 72 map sheets at scale 1:50.000, of which 19 pertaining to ISMAR-CNR UOS Bologna. For each sheet there are four thematic maps. They highlight different aspects of the geohazard and the different scales at which it can be investigated and represented.
