The survey has been carried out on board of the R/V Bannock - CNR. During the cruise, the main aim of which was the reconstruction of the geological and geodynamic evolution of the Tyrrhenian basin, a series of tests of the instrumentation were done in order to define the best practice for organic and organgenic material sampling in water. From the original radio navigation system Loran-C, the coordinates have been later converted into geographical. During the cruise gravity cores, piston cores, dredges, underwater photos and plankton sampling were performed within the Corsica Basin, on top of Baronie and Magnaghi seamounts, and along the Latium escarpment. The cruise has been carried out from 23th June to 28th June 1971. Dr. F. Cati and Dr. R. Selli were on board as part of the scientific team, and V. Landuzzi, A. Magagnoli, G. Quarantotto, G. Busatti, G. Marozzi and M. Mengoli were part of the technical team. PI was the Dr. P. Colantoni.

L'acquisizione in mare è stata effettuata con la nave Bannock del CNR. Durante questa crociera, il cui scopo principale era la ricostruzione dell'evoluzione geologica e geodinamica dell'area tirrenica, sono stati effettuati una serie di test della strumentazione al fine di definire la miglior procedura per il campionamento di materiale organico e organogeno in sospensione nelle acque. Il sistema di navigazione utilizzato è stato il Loran C, e le coordinate sono state successimene convertite in geografiche. Durante la ccorciera sono stati effettuati dei carotaggi a gravità, carotaggi a pistone, dragaggi, foto sub-acquee e campionamento del plancton nel bacino Corso, al tetto dei monti Baronie e Magnaghi, e lungo la scarpata del Lazio. La crociera si è svolta dal 23 al 28 giugno del 1971. A bordo erano presenti i Dr. F. Cati and Dr. R. Selli parte del team scientifico; e V. Landuzzi, A. Magagnoli, G. Quarantotto, G. Busatti, G.
