Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD)

Institutional collaboration between the Ministry of the Environment, Directorate for the Protection of Nature and the Sea and the National Research Council - Department of Earth System Sciences and Technologies for the Environment (CNR-DTA) for the joint implementation of actions aimed at the realization of objectives set by the Marine Strategy Directive.

Art. 11 of Directive 2008/56 / EC (Marine Strategy Framework Directive - MSFD) requires Member States to develop and implement monitoring programs for the continuous assessment of the ecological status of marine waters, according to the environmental targets (targets) defined pursuant to of the art. 10, in order to achieve or maintain the Good Environmental Status (GES) of marine ecosystems.
